Joy Jeffries, born in Iowa, began working at Montgomery Ward in Chicago, Illinois in 1935. In 1950 she married August Berger and moved to Denver, Colorado, where she continued to work for Wards in personnel or as head cashier until at least 1961. From the description of Papers, 1938-1962.
